The Sanctuary of As Ermidas is the Marian sanctuary, that is, of adoration to the virgin, of greater importance of the region of Bolo-Valdeorras. It was declared a Cultural Interest (BIC) in 2006.
It is a really beautiful building and is located in an extraordinary location, because it crowns a natural rock located at the bottom of the throat formed by the river Bibei. Legend has it that the virgin appeared in this place.
Its style is mostly baroque, in fact the facade of this sanctuary can be considered as one of the best works of Galician baroque.
It consists of two towers divided into five different sections.
In its interior it houses retablos of great interest, of which the one that stands out more is the one of the Greater Altar, due to its wealth.
It is also advisable to make a stop in its atrium since in it we can observe a beautiful “cruceiro”, architectural element typical of Galicia.
We recommend that in your visit to the Sanctuary of As Ermidas you will notice the amazing views of the Bibei river.
